Hackney Society

The Hackney Society was formed in 1967 to involve and support local people in the conservation and regeneration of Hackney’s built environment. It works to preserve Hackney’s heritage and make the area a better place in which to live and work.

The Society aims to promote high standards of planning and architecture, give a voice to local people in the future development of the borough, and educate and foster public interest in the history and architecture of Hackney. We organise monthly events including talks, guided walks, and building tours, and produce a quarterly newsletter and publications celebrating Hackney’s social, cultural and architectural history.
