The Geffrye Museum of the Home

The Geffrye explores the home over the past 400 years, from around 1600 to the present day. Our focus is on the living rooms of the urban middle classes of England, particularly London. We aim to show how such homes have been used and furnished over this period, reflecting changes in society and patterns of behaviour as well as style, fashion and taste.

The museum is set in elegant 18th century almshouses with a contemporary wing surrounded by attractive period and herb gardens. There is a lively programme of special exhibitions, events and activities. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.
